The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development has announced that effective Sunday, April 1, the National Employment Bureau will be known as the Barbados Employment and Career Counselling Service (BECCS).

Barbados’ only public employment service, the BECCS will operate under the Ministry as a Department and will continue to offer a number of free and enhanced services. These include career counselling; training in writing effective job applications and resumes; training in interview etiquette; referral of job seekers to local and overseas employment; and facilitating the advertisement of vacancies and recruitment services for employers.

The guiding principles for the agency will be enhanced efficiency through better governance; the delivery of high-quality services by trained staff; and a sound knowledge of the Barbados labour market. These will be achieved by strategically harnessing the latest available technology.

The BECCS will be partnering with the key stakeholders in the Barbados Labour Market representing tertiary, as well as technical and vocational training institutions; social security and social service agencies; labour administration; governmental and non-governmental organisations.

For further information on the BECCS’ services, persons may call 535-1544, 535-1547 or 535-1554.
