Meeting the challenges for increased productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector will come under the microscope, when the Barbados National Agricultural Conference 2015 is held next week.

The conference will be held on Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, at the Savannah Hotel, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Its objectives are to create a forum for sharing information and research findings among officials and extension personnel; and to foster a culture of scientific excellence in research and in presentations.

The conference also aims to bring into the public domain new or emerging scientific knowledge that is being generated in the country.

Topics to be discussed include The Development of a Viable Cassava Industry in Barbados; An Assessment of the Horticultural Industry 2008 ??? 2014; and Catch Trends in Long-line Fishery.??Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, and Water Resource Management, Dr. David Estwick, will deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony on Monday, March 30, at 9:00 a.m.
