The Animal Control Unit will observe the sixth annual Barbados National Animal Week from October 1 to 8.

Under the theme: A Healthy Pet, A Healthy You, activities will promote the health benefits of companion animals and highlight how owning a dog could improve quality of life.

The week opens on Sunday, October 1, with a church service at the Church of the Nazarene, Collymore Rock, St. Michael, at 9:00 a.m.

A number of licensing outreach and health promotion sessions are planned at venues around the island to provide dog owners with opportunities to license their animals and receive information about caring for them.

These sessions are scheduled for October 1 and  2 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; October 4 at Carlton and A1 Supermarket, Black Rock, St. Michael, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and October 6 at Jordan’s Supermarket, Speightstown, St. Peter, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Other sessions are planned for Carter’s Store, Wildey, St. Michael, on October 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and at the Barbados Kennel Club, Waterford, St. Michael, on October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
