The National Committee on Ageing (NCA) aims to serve the elderly in the community by addressing any issues which may pertain to them.

This was underscored as members of the committee presented the Geriatric Hospital with a variety of hygienic and food items, earlier today, at the Beckles Road institution.

Chairperson of the Activities Committee of the NCA, Marva Alleyne, speaking after the presentation, stressed the importance of this event during the end of the financial year, noting that at this time there were still numerous items which the hospitals were still in dire need of, but were experiencing difficulty obtaining.

She stated that the NCA is a functional organisation, and today’s presentation is part of the Committee’s on-going programmes, which are structured to reach out to those in need.

Senior Nursing Officer, Terril Scantlebury, gratefully accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital, and welcomed the assistance of any governmental or non-governmental organisations.

The NCA also made another presentation to the St. Philip District Hospital, and will continue this initiative tomorrow at the St. Lucy District Hospital, followed by the Gordon Cummins Hospital in St. Thomas.
