The National Disabilities Unit (NDU) will host a national consultation on Issues Affecting Persons with Disabilities (PWD) tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The consultation will be held via the Zoom platform using the Meeting ID: 83671166969; Passcode 335814.

Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, will deliver the opening remarks during this event, which is being held to highlight issues and identify strategies to resolve accessibility and decrease barriers for people living with disabilities in Barbados.

To facilitate this process, a number of thematic areas were identified for discussion. They are: accessible education; financial security; emergency preparedness; accessible service delivery and employment.

This national consultation forms part of the activities being held to mark the Month of the Disabled, being celebrated under the theme: Inclusion: Living Without Limits.

The primary objective of the consultation is to increase awareness of issues affecting persons with disabilities, promote greater inclusion, enhance opportunities towards greater equality, and ultimately advance their rights.

Persons interested in participating in this event should complete a registration form from the NDU by calling 535-3600, or emailing disabilities.unit@barbados.gov.bb.
