This year’s National Independence Service will take place on Sunday, November 29th at the Wildey Gymnasium under the theme, Standing Together, Renewing Hope.

Governor General, Dame Sandra Mason; Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley; Chief Justice, Patterson Cheltenham; Cabinet Ministers; Opposition Leader, Bishop Joseph Atherley; other Members of Parliament; members of the diplomatic corps; representatives of the private and public sectors, the social partnership, other dignitaries and members of the general public are expected to be present for the service which gets under way at 10:00 a.m.

The service, one of the highlights of the 54th Anniversary of Independence celebrations, will be streamed via various social media platforms.

Public entry to the venue will begin at 7:30 a.m. and persons are asked to note this will be done in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols outlined by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Attendees will have to undergo temperature checks, sanitisation and provide basic information for contact tracing purposes. Persons are reminded that face masks must be worn, and social distancing observed.

Public shuttle service to the venue will be provided by the Barbados Transport Board. Buses will leave the Fairchild Street, Princess Alice, Oistins and Speightstown terminals at a time to be announced at a later date.

There will also be designated public parking at the Wildey Gymnasium and persons are advised to follow the directions of security personnel.
