The Division of Culture, Prime Minister’s Office, and the National Library Service, in collaboration with the Barbados Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union, will host an essay competition entitled, Barbados a Republic, what it means to me.

The competition will run from Wednesday, September 8 to Monday, November 8, and is open to young persons between 14 to 17 years of age. Essays should be a maximum of 2,500 words, typed and double spaced.

Entries should be submitted via email to republicessay@nls.gov.bb and include essay title, name of child, age, national registration number, email address and contact number.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three essays as follows: Gold Award $2,500; Silver Award $1,500 and the Bronze Award $1,000.
