Archery, cycling and road race finals will all take place this Sunday, April 15, as the National Senior Games’ gets under way.

Finalists in Archery will compete at the Archery Association Range, Belle Vue Gap, Waterford, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, while cycling will begin near Weiser’s on the Bay, Spring Garden highway, at 7:30 a.m.

The 5K road race will commence at 6:00 a.m., at the entrance to the National Stadium. Participants will keep going left onto Codrington Road, Bush Hall Yard Gap, Bush Hall Main Road, Codrington Road, and then onto Stadium Road. Runners will then take one lap around the outskirts of the Stadium before finishing at the entrance.

On Wednesday, April 18, tennis finals will take place at the Barbados Tennis Association, Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael, from 6:00 p.m., while table tennis finals come off at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, Constitution Road, St. Michael, also at 6:00 p.m.

Netballers will display their skills on Thursday, April 19, as the finals in that discipline take place at the Netball Stadium, Waterford, St. Michael, from 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, April 21, athletes 40 years and over will take to the National Stadium for the finals of the track and field events. From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seniors will compete in a range of activities including the 100, 200, 400, 800 and 3000 metre races, standing long jump, and tug-of-war. There will also be a spectators’ race.

The Games will then culminate on Sunday, April 22, when the basketball finals are held at the Barbados Community College Gymnasium, Howells’ Cross Road, St. Michael, at 7:00 p.m.

The public is invited to come out and support Barbadian seniors as they display their prowess in the various events.
