Government summer camps will be back on this summer at 32 venues across the island.

Word of this has come from the Ministry of Youth and Community Empowerment.

An official said the camps would run from July 15 to August 16 and registration forms should be collected from primary schools or the Ministry of Youth and Community Empowerment, Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael.

Additionally, persons 16 years and over who wish to volunteer as camp assistants may apply to do so online at www.youthaffairs.gov.bb.

The official explained that following a break for review in 2018, it was remodelled to include more community-based programming, while engaging the specialized skills, talents and experiences of volunteers within the community.

The Youth Development Programme will take lead responsibility for the 2019 programme, and Youth Commissioners will be actively engaged in the management of the camps.

The five-week summer camp programme is expected to provide a safe, structured environment for campers and counsellors alike.

For more information, and the full list of camp venues, persons should call the Ministry of Youth and Community Empowerment at 535-3835.
