Several outstanding young Barbadians who have excelled in their various fields and given selflessly to the community and their country will be rewarded this weekend during the National Youth Awards ceremony.           

It will be held this Saturday, November 22, at the Frank Collymore Hall, starting at 4:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Believing and Achieving: Our Commitment to Success” and Minister of Family, Youth, Sports and Environment, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, will deliver the feature address.

The awards to be presented include the Phoenix (Minister’s) Award, the Conrad Hunte (sports) Award, the Ficus (community and group service) Award, the Hope (Group) Award, the Bambusa (business) Award and the Banyan (youth champion for HIV) Award. In addition, several special awards will be given during the ceremony.

The National Youth Awards ceremony was started in 2005 and seeks to highlight and celebrate the effort, talent, commitment and industry of young Barbadians.
