A number of youth leaders from across the island are currently participating in an important  one month National Youth Consultation which began this week and runs until September 20.

The exercise, which is intended to inform a proposed official policy on youth, will have as one of its components several community level meetings that will see 30 youth leaders facilitating the process. They will be visiting communities and youth organisations to hear and record the views of Barbadian youth between the ages of 15 and 29.

Organisations and individuals are asked to favourably respond to the facilitators when they are contacted. All information gleaned will be treated confidentially, and the facilitators will be carrying appropriate identification.

Persons requesting additional information should call 430-2893.

Meanwhile, the Youth Development Programme – Youth Mainstream Programme is accepting applications for its training partnership initiative with the Barbados Community College, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, the Barbados Training Board, the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme, the Digital Media Film Project and the Leather Craft and Community Based Projects. Additional information on these programmes may be obtained by calling 430-2916.
