Recently recruited lifeguards, rangers and wardens will be presented with certificates and awards by the National Conservation Commission (NCC) during a special awards ceremony on Wednesday, July 11, at the Hastings Rocks, Hastings, Christ Church, at 4:00 p.m.

Minister of the Environment and Drainage, Dr. Denis Lowe, is expected to deliver the feature address and present some of the awards during the ceremony, which will see new lifeguards being presented with their certificates after successfully completing training from August 29 to November 18, 2011.

The lifeguards were employed from December last year, and were deployed to beaches across Barbados, to increase the surveillance and building capacity at the lifeguard supervised beaches.

They will be presented with certificates and special awards in the areas of Best Recruit, Iron Guard, Waterman-ship and Medic.
