The National Conservation Commission (NCC) is offering beekeeping classes in an effort to increase awareness about bees and the challenges which threaten their existence.

They will be held every Saturday from June 12, to July 17, between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., at the NCC’s headquarters at Codrington House, St. Michael.

Classes will be tailored to three groups: Juniors aged five to 16; persons 17 years old and up, as well as NCC staff.

Instructors will highlight honeybees as pollinators and their relevance to the earth’s ecosystem. They will also emphasise the important relationship between humans and honeybees.

Special emphasis will be placed on creating an understanding of why bees are integral to food security. Participants can expect to be introduced to new topics weekly and will also benefit from demonstrations, group explorations and projects, and engage in exciting hands-on activities.

To register, interested persons should contact the Commission’s PR/Marketing Department at 536-0662 or 536-0663.  They may also email specialprojectsoffice@ncc.gov.bb.  The deadline for registration is Tuesday, June 8.

Space is limited due to the strict observance of physical distancing rules, so interested persons should register early. All COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.
