The National Conservation Commission (NCC) will be seeking to foster health and wellness amidst its 40th anniversary celebrations next month.

According to the NCC’s Special Projects Officer, Ricardo Marshall,?? in an effort to revitalise the department’s Sports Club, encourage camaraderie and to promote health and fitness amongst staff, four houses – orange, blue, yellow and green, have been formed and will be competing against each other?? in various activities including sports and indoor games, during the anniversary month and beyond.

The sporting events will get underway on Monday, May 10, with an inter-house netball competition at the National Netball Stadium, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 11, an Inter-house 20 x 20 cricket match will be held at the Barbados Lumber Company’s playing field, starting at 4:00 p.m.

An inter-house football tournament will be the focus of activities on Tuesday, May 18. The competition, which will get underway at 4:00 p.m., will also take place at the Barbados Lumber Company’s playing field.

Lovers of in-door games, including dominoes, will have the opportunity for friendly rivalry on Friday, May 21, when contests will take place at the NCC’s Headquarters, beginning at 10: 00 a.m.

The highlight of the sporting activities will be a 20 x 20 Celebrity Cricket match featuring the NCC versus an invitational 11. Slated to take place on Friday, May 21, beginning at 6:00 p.m., it will be held at the University of the West Indies’ 3Ws Oval.

The curtain will come down on the sporting aspect of the NCC’s celebrations, on Saturday, July 3, with Beach games and fun day slated to be held at Brandon’s Beach, at a time to be announced.

Barbadians of all walks of life are being invited to join the NCC as it celebrates 40 years of service to Barbados under the theme: ???Stepping towards a greener Barbados.’
