The National Conservation Commission (NCC) is urging members of the public to refrain from illegal dumping at the island’s beaches and parks.

This appeal has come from Technical Officer at the NCC, Kerriann Jessamy, who stated that the Commission is experiencing some challenges with illegal dumping at a number of beaches and parks under their remit.

Some of these beaches are: Batt’s Rock, Brandon’s, Browne’s and Pebbles and Drill Hall beaches in St. Michael; Dover, Enterprise, Rockley, Silver Sands and Worthing in Christ Church; Almond Beach, Fitt’s Village, Folkestone, Port St. Charles and the Speightstown Esplanade on the West Coast, as well as Foul Bay beach in St. Philip.

The parks affected by illegal dumping are: Barclays Park, St. Andrew, King George V and Three Houses Parks in St. Philip.

“The public is being asked to refrain from bringing their refuse to these recreational sites as it is unsightly. It becomes a breeding ground for pests and rodents thus creating health risks, and takes away the pleasurable experience from both locals and visitors upon visiting these locations,” Ms. Jessamy stressed.
