The news media and the public have come in for high praise from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Devere Browne.

Speaking to representatives of the media during a press conference at the Foundation’s West Terrace, St. James, office last Wednesday, he said the festival would not have been a success without the co-operation of the public.

“I want to say a big thank you to the people of Barbados. Our task of producing the festival could have been extremely difficult, if we did not have the co-operation of the people,” he said.

Mr. Browne revealed that the festival was planned in March – three months outside of the usual time allocated for the committee to do its work, following the change of government.

He also lauded the NCF staff for their commitment to duty.

“I also want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thanks to the staff of the NCF. There are many people who worked behind the scenes and those who worked voluntarily to make Crop Over a success,” he observed.

The media and stakeholders were not to be left out as they too received accolades.

The CEO also pledged to listen to and to address the public’s concern in order to ensure that Crop Over 2009 is a success.

“We cannot be perfect and if the festival is to improve, we have to listen to the people that are involved. So, we will be setting up systems to effect this, he stressed.

Mr. Browne has urged those members of the public who experienced any problems during the Crop Over festival to call the NCF at 424-0914 or put their concerns in writing.
