Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley (FP)

There is a contingency plan in place to relocate the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals to the?? Garfield Sobers Gymnasium should bad weather prevent the staging of the event at Kensington Oval on Friday, August 3.

That is the word from Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley, who stressed that the staff and team at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) "will continue to monitor the weather and keep in contact with the Meteorological Office".

Mr. Lashley told the media: "It is still early days yet. We have received the information and members of staff of the NCF are monitoring and will ensure that whatever actions need to be taken, are taken at the appropriate time."

He emphasised, however, that "we always have contingency plans in place in the event of these things, so we will monitor and keep the public fully apprised of any developments based on what we are informed by the Met Office".

The Meteorological Department issued a special weather bulletin today, advising that a tropical storm was expected to affect the island late Friday and into Saturday.
