The recently installed executive of the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA) will hold a number of meetings with presidents and executive members of PTAs across Barbados, to achieve national educational objectives.

According to President of the NCPTA, Rhonda Blackman, the meetings will be conducted over a two week period beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 24.?? She added that consultations would include all public and private nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as those with special needs.?? "To help facilitate this process all schools have been divided into five zones, with two assigned zone coordinators in each," she explained.

The zones have been split into the following areas: Northern encompassing St. Andrew, St. Lucy, St. Peter and St. James; Central which includes St. Joseph, St. John, St. George and St. Thomas; Southern, covering St. Philip and Christ Church; and St. Michael I and II.

Along with working with schools, the mission of the NCPTA is also to agitate for action at the policy formulation and implementation levels of Government, on behalf of school age children, their parents and guardians.?? It is also seeking to promote the establishment, development and maintenance of strong, vibrant local PTAs.??
