The National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA) is hosting an art and writing competition under the theme: Bee Drug Free.

The competition is being held in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which will be commemorated on Friday, June 26.

The competition is open to children between the ages of eight and 17. They can enter one of the three categories. Stories must be between 250 and 350 words long, while poems should average 100 to 150 words.

These entries must have the name, age and address of the applicant attached, and may be submitted to ncsa.pr@barbados.gov.bb.

Meanwhile, artwork must be done in colour, and should also contain the name, age and address of the applicant. These entries can be delivered to the NCSA’s office at the Corner of 1st Avenue Belleville and Pine Road, St. Michael.

The deadline for entries in all three categories is Sunday, July 12. Entries will not be returned after submission as they will become the property of the NCSA.

Parents will be required to give permission allowing the NCSA to use the children’s work in the media as promotional pieces, and on its social media platforms.

Children of NCSA staff members are not allowed to participate. For further details, persons may contact 535-6272, Mondays to Fridays, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
