Barbadian students will have the opportunity to take part in the inaugural Science and Technology (S&T) Speak-Off Competition.

Hosted by the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST), the S&T Speak-Off competition will form part of a March 24 to 25 symposium at the Frank Collymore Hall, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

It will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 25. Both events will be held under the theme: Science & Technology Research: Driving Economic Growth – Securing our Future.

The aim of the symposium is to provide a platform for the promotion of scientific and technological research in national development; and to enable scientists, engineers and technologists to exchange information with each other and share their research findings with the general population.

The presentations will encompass all areas of science and technology, especially those which can be used in the further development of Barbados.

The S&T Speak-Off competition, which is open to science students aged 15 to 18, is designed to enhance presentation skills and research capability, while encouraging a culture of S&T research in the youth.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend this event, which will make them more aware of the latest developments in S&T and how it impacts their lives.??They will also be able to lend support to the youth who will become the next generation of scientists and researchers.
