When the Barbados Community College (BCC) hosts its 41st Graduation Ceremony this weekend, close to 1,400 students will be graduating.

It will also see visually-impaired student and the institution???s sole winner of a Barbados Exhibition, Janeil Odle, delivering the valedictory speech.

Janeil is currently pursuing a Law Degree at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

The ceremony takes place on Saturday, November 8, at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael, from 5:00 p.m. It will be held under the theme: Sustainable Development ??? Towards Self-sufficiency.??Country Representative for the Inter-American Development Bank, Joel Branski, will deliver the feature address.

The College will confer 1,361 degrees, diplomas and certificates across a range of disciplines that include: Social Work, Psychology, Mass Communication, Hospitality Studies, Tourism and Travel, Culinary Arts, Physical Education, General Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Architectural Studies, Land Surveying, Music, Theatre Arts and Business Studies.

One hundred and seventy-one students will be presented with the Associate Degree in Arts; 57 with Associate Degrees in Science; 208 with the Associate Degree in Applied Arts; and 318 with the Associate Degree in Applied Science. An additional 523 will receive BCC certificates.

The BCC will also confer 17 Post-Graduate Diplomas, 23 Bachelor Degrees and 44 Post Associate Degree Diplomas from its Higher Degree Programmes.

This year???s graduating class has also been awarded 12 Upper Second Class Honours and seven Lower Second Class Honours. Twenty-nine Distinctions and 92 Credits will also be conferred on Associate Degree graduands.
