A half-day seminar and networking session has been organised by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) for a visiting group of government and high net-worth business officials from China, next week. It will be held at the Bagnall’s Point Gallery, Pelican Centre, Bridgetown, on Monday, April 16, from 9:00 a.m.

The Chinese delegation, which will be led by Chairman of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade, Jiang Zengwei, is seeking pragmatic cooperation with Barbadian companies under the China “the Belt and Road” initiative. Key Barbadian business persons are also expected to be in attendance.

Director of Export at the BIDC, Marina Taitt, and Secretary General of the China Chamber of International Commerce, Yujian Long, will address the session.  There will also be presentations from the BIDC, Invest Barbados, the Barbados International Business Association, and the Town and Country Development Planning Office.

Tax policies, incentives for international investors and the development planning process will be some of the areas covered.

During their stay, the delegation will pay an official visit to the BIDC “Pelican House”, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown, to discuss further cooperation mechanisms under an existing Memorandum of Understanding, signed in November 2016 by the two agencies.
