Acting principals, newly appointed to posts in primary schools across the island are set to benefit from a one-day training initiative in teacher evaluation this Thursday, November 1.

The workshop, which is hosted by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, will take place in the auditorium of the Media Resource Department at the Elsie Payne Complex. It starts at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 12:30 p.m.

A major topic to be addressed will be The Teacher Evaluation Process which will have as a sub-theme: Classroom Observation – Shared Observation and Suggestions. This will be facilitated by Senior Education Officer, Patricia Warner. Teacher Evaluation – It can work! will be addressed with by Principal of the Thelma Berry Nursery School,?? Angela Chaplain.??

Practical group work will be undertaken by Education Officer (Ag), Deborah Howell.

The main aim of the training is to sensitise recently assigned acting principals to the teacher evaluation process and their roles as evaluators, in particular.

Deputy Chief Education Officer, Karen Best, will address the participants.
