Government’s Community Development Department, the National Cultural Foundation and the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat have joined forces to bring a new event to the Crop-Over calendar for 2008.

The three departments are planning an Inter-Parish Float Competition. It is expected that this will provide an opportunity for community groups, organisations and interested individuals to creatively use floats depicting some aspect of community life in their parish and Barbados.

To this end, a series of meetings have been scheduled to discuss plans for the competition. The first will take place next Tuesday, April 15, at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Road, St Philip at 7:30 p.m. The following day, Wednesday, April 16, the discussion moves to the Oistins Community Centre, Oistins, Christ Church, at 7:00 p.m., and the final meeting will be held on Saturday, April 19 at the Gall Hill Community Centre, Gall Hill, St. John, starting at 5:00 p.m.

Further information may be obtained by contacting the Community Development Department, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, at 310-1700.
