The Ministry of Housing and Lands is examining the prospect of building multi-family dwellings.

Word of this has come from Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley, who said during a recent interview, that although Barbadians have not traditionally adopted multi-family solutions, “we can double the density per acre by simply constructing multi-family dwellings”.

Mr. Lashley further stated that “this of course will require re-examination of the Town Planning regulations to permit greater heights in order to further increase densities”.  The Minister gave the assurance that “such an initiative will surely ease the pressure of the competition between agricultural and residential use”.
