A new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) programme, catering specifically to teenagers, is set to be launched next month.

The ITS Teens Programme, a brainchild of the Community Development Department, will commence on Monday, July 13, 2009 and run for six to eight weeks, Mondays to Thursdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

ITS Teens, an extension of the Community Technology Programme, is targeting persons between 14 and 18 years old and will be offered at various resource centres across the island. It will be available at Deacons, Grazettes, Bonnetts, St. Christopher, Briar Hall, Speightstown, Rices and St. Marks.

The objectives of the programme are to: expose teenagers to the benefits of ICT training; and to enhance their ICT skills and knowledge of the computer.??

It also aims to provide another career and training opportunity for students; to facilitate access to computers by teens who may not have had the opportunity otherwise; and to facilitate creativity, innovation and networking among the target group.

The courses to be offered include Computer Graphics, Basic Computer Repairs, Introduction to Computers; Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite and Web Page Design.
