The second issue of the TVET Council???s magazine – 21st Century Worker: Our Goals, Our Careers, Our Future – is now available online.??

The magazine???s overall theme is investing in workforce development. In each edition readers will find stories on issues related to workforce education and training, and receive career advice and guidance.

The theme of the second edition is ???Transforming Barbados??? TVET System from supply-led to demand- driven???.??It is based on the establishment of the Competence Based Training Fund (CBTF) which was set up as part of the Barbados Government???s Skills for the Future programme.

The purpose of the CBTF is to help employers and training providers to better collaborate on workforce training that meets the needs of employers and leads to skilled, competent and certified workers who help to drive productivity.

Technical Officer – Communications of the Council and Editor, Samantha Jones, noted that the 21st Century Worker magazine is intended to help the TVETC achieve its key function of promoting competence-based TVET. She added: “TVET is education aimed at preparing individuals for the world of work by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and work experience to be certified as competent to perform a work role to the standards expected.?????
