Chief Magistrate, Pamela Beckles, was today sworn in as Barbados??? newest High Court Judge.

She took the oath of office from Governor-General, Sir Elliott Belgrave, in a short ceremony at Government House.

Speaking to the media following the ceremony, Madame Justice Beckles said she was honoured by her appointment, and was looking forward to working with her colleagues at the Supreme Court Complex.

???I intend to continue in the same vein as I was at the Magistrate Court ??? firm but fair and treat everyone equally???. I will work just as hard as I worked in the Magistrate Courts,??? she pledged.

The newly-appointed High Court Judge brings some 27 years??? experience as an attorney-at-law to her new post. She was employed as a Crown Counsel and Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court before being appointed as a Magistrate in 1997. She was appointed as Chief Magistrate in 2011.
