Effective Thursday, April 15, architects who fail to follow a new protocol for the submission of building applications to the Chief Town Planner, will have their drawings rejected.
Word of this comes from Chief Town Planner, Mark Cummins, who stressed that architects submitting drawings to the Town and Country Planning Development Office must be registered under the Architects Registration Act, Section 4(5).
He explained that submissions had to be accompanied by a copy of the certificate of registration as outlined in the Profession, Trade and Business Registration Act, Cap 373. In addition, the approved seal/stamp of the Architects Registration Board must be affixed to all accompanying drawings.????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
With respect to draughtsmen, Mr. Cummins pointed out that when they submitted their drawings, related to the development of family dwellings and commercial structures of no more than 5000 square feet or 456 square metres, they also needed to be registered under the Profession, Trade and Business Registration Act, Cap 373. A copy of the certificate of registration must also be included with their submissions.
The Chief Town Planner added that for the purpose of the submission of applications for buildings, "family dwellings" included dwelling houses, apartments, townhouses and condominiums.
