The public will soon get the rare opportunity to view prints of natural history specimens dating back to the 16th century.
There will be an exhibition entitled The New World, which will run from Monday, October 17, to Friday, December 16, at the Barbados Museum and Historical Society at the Garrison, St. Michael. Persons may visit the exhibits Mondays to Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.
Some of the popular illustrations from the 18th century publication Natural History in Barbados by Reverend Griffith Hughes will be on display, as well as line drawings done by artist Mary Rogers in 1911. The Barbados Museum holds the original collection of line and pencil drawings by Ms. Rogers and some of them will be exhibited for the first time.
