Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christopher Sinckler (FP)??

Barbados’ agricultural base is vital to the growth of this economy!

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christopher Sinckler, made this assertion today when New Zealand High Commissioner, Andrew Needs, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry’s Culloden Road headquarters.

Mr. Sinckler said that although Barbados had branched into other areas such as tourism and financial services, "a sound agricultural base was still important".?? He stated given the current economic downturn, agriculture could no longer be put on the ???back burner’.

The High Commissioner agreed and in turn called for greater collaboration between the two countries as it related to that particular sector.

The two envoys also discussed matters pertaining to trade and tourism, as well as the visa agreement between their respective countries.??

Barbados and New Zealand established diplomatic relations on July 4, 1974.
