The establishment of the New Zealand High Commission in Barbados will strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

That was the consensus when New Zealand???s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully, along with High Commissioner, Jan Henderson, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, recently at her Culloden Road, St. Michael office.

During the meeting, which took place prior to the official opening of the High Commission, the officials also spoke to areas of social security and the challenges facing Small Island Developing States.

Ways in which New Zealand could offer support in education were also discussed, with the visiting officials pointing out that their country offered a number of options for Masters and other postgraduate programmes.??Other topics discussed at the meeting included climate change, renewable energy, as well as issues related to the economy of each country.
