Cooperation in sports, the provision of scholarships to Barbadian students in Renewable Energy and the importance of up-to-date construction techniques, were among the areas discussed when New Zealand???s High Commissioner, Jan Henderson paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.

During the meeting at the Ministry last Friday, the two officials discussed a number of pertinent bilateral issues aimed at deepening the existing ties which spanned more than three decades.

High Commissioner Henderson also reminded Senator McClean of that country???s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council for the period 2015-2016.

In turn, Senator McClean indicated that in relation to candidatures, CARICOM Member States try, as far as possible, to act collaboratively on such matters.??Barbados and New Zealand established diplomatic ties on July 4, 1974.
