The lecture series entitled "Emigration from Barbados" continues next Tuesday, March 23, with a presentation by Dr. Henderson Carter on "Windwards and Leewards" at the Grande Salle, Tom Adams Financial Centre at 7:30 p.m.
The series, coordinated by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, explores the link between the sugar revolution in Barbados in the 1640’s and the emigration trends which occurred from that period to the present.
The remaining speakers for the series will be Dr. Cecelia Karch on Tuesday, March 30 and Dr. Marcia Burrowes on Tuesday April 6. Dr. Andrew Downes will explore the topic, "Managed Migration from Barbados: The Temporary Worker Programme in Canada & USA" on Tuesday, April 13, while Central Bank Governor, Dr. Delisle Worrell, will conclude the series with a presentation on "Migration and the Barbadian Standard of Living" on Tuesday, April 20.
All sessions begin at 7:30 p.m. The first nine lectures will be held in the Grande Salle of the Tom Adams Financial Centre, while the final presentation will take place at the Barbados Workers’ Union headquarters, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael.
