For the ninth consecutive year, Barbados will be represented at the Huntsman World Senior Games, which are held annually in St. George, Utah, USA.

Through the assistance of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, 22 senior athletes – seven females and 15 males, will compete in a range of sporting disciplines, running from October 7 to 13.

They are: Judith Magras competing in archery; Richard Clarke; Anthony Layne, Stephen Sayers, Richard Toppin and David Haynes participating in basketball; and Ronald Harding and John Proverbs in cycling.

Carlton Sealy will be the sole Barbadian table tennis competitor, while Raymond Forde and George Grant will represent the island in tennis. Meanwhile, the athletes participating in the track and field events are: Ainsley Lovell, Jennifer Swanston-Jones, Shirley Harper, Kathy Harper-Hall, Angela Jackson, Leith Daley-Cummins, David Ross, Lester Phillips, Roland Waithe, Henderson Waltress, and Victor Young as a reserve.

The athletes selected would have participated in this year???s National Senior Games, and had attained the qualifying standards set by the Huntsman Games.

Accompanying the team is Manager Rawle Clarke, who will be inducted into the 2013 Huntsman World Senior Games Hall of Fame. Assistant Manager, Anna Shepherd will also be in attendance.

In 2012, Barbados amassed 81 medals at the Utah-based event, of which 55 were gold, 20 were silver and six were bronze.
