Chief Electoral Officer, Angela Taylor. (FP)

Chief Electoral Officer, Angela Taylor, is reminding the public, particularly the business community, that there is no law requiring a person to replace a Barbados Identification (ID) Card after 10 years.

Mrs. Taylor’s comments were made in response to an increase in the number of persons seeking replacement identification cards.

She said: “Identification cards which have been issued in excess of 10 years and have a photograph which fairly represents the likeness of the holder should be accepted as proof of identity, once the card is not damaged or defaced.”

The Chief Electoral Officer has advised that any questions or concerns, with regard to the legitimacy of an ID card or any biographical information on the card, should be directed to the Electoral Office at Warrens Tower II, St. Michael.  Persons may also call 535-4853.
