Barbados is under no tsunami threat, nor is there any coastal evacuation ongoing in the island.

Acting Director of the Department of Emergency Management, Kerry Hinds, emphasised this point, today, amid fears of a possible tsunami threat following a series of earthquakes felt across Barbados.

???There is no tsunami warning issued for Barbados. The only way a coastal evacuation would be initiated is if there was a tsunami warning,??? she stressed.

Information from the official site, the Seismic Research Centre (SRC), indicated that a series of earthquakes were felt north-east of Barbados today at various times – 7:01 a.m.; 11:16 a.m.; 11:29 a.m.; 11:36 a.m. and 12:23 p.m. – ranging in magnitudes from 3.4 to 6.4 and ranging in depths between 61 km and 111 km.

These earthquakes were also felt in St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. There were no reports of injuries and the SRC has also stressed that no tsunami warnings have been issued.
