Nominations are being accepted for the annual National Sports Council’s (NSC) Awards, and forms to select recipients are now available at the NSC’s headquarters at Blenheim, My Lord’s Hill, St. Michael.

Managers of national sporting associations, who have not yet received forms, should collect them from the NSC as soon as possible, as the deadline for returning completed forms is Friday, November 27.

Further information may be obtained by contacting the NSC at telephone number 430-7700.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including Coach of the Year, the Outstanding Junior Sportsperson, the Outstanding Senior Sportsperson, and the Emerging Athlete. Prizes will also be given to schools and communities involved in sports.

The Sports Personality title for 2008 was won by Ivorn McKnee, who received a gold medal at the last Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships. He also won gold last month at the Commonwealth Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships in Malaysia.

The NSC’s awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Frank Collymore Hall, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
