Young Barbadians who have excelled in their various fields and have unselfishly contributed to the community, will be recognised next month at the National Youth Awards ceremony.????

The deadline for nominations for this year’s awards is Thursday, November 5 and the theme is "Celebrating our Differences: Embracing all Opportunities".?? The ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 15, at the Hilton Barbados, Needhams Point, St. Michael, at 4:30 p.m.

Awards will be presented for sporting achievement, performing arts, visual arts, community service, science and technology, HIV and AIDS awareness in Barbados, among other areas.

Criteria sheets and nomination forms are available from the Ministry of Youth, Family and Sports’ Youth Development Programme, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, and the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme, Hincks Street, Bridgetown. ??

Completed nomination forms should be sent in a sealed envelope and addressed to:?? Nominees must be Barbadian citizens, under the age of 30 by September 2009.

The National Youth Awards ceremony was started in 2005 and seeks to highlight and celebrate the effort, talent, commitment and industry of young Barbadians.??
