Members of the public will get the opportunity to learn how to plant kale, basil herbs, mint herbs, garlic, and other medicinal herbs tomorrow, Tuesday, November 14, as the Ministry of Agriculture hosts it non-traditional crops field day.

The field day will be held at the Central Agronomic Research Station at Graeme Hall, Christ Church, from 9:00 a.m. It is being undertaken to encourage the public to plant the spaces around them.

During the day, Agronomists will highlight how to grow Bassicas – kale, kohlrabi, radish, turnip, swiss chard; basil herbs – sweet, chocolate, lemon and cinnamon; other mint herbs – mint, thyme, lavender, lemon balm, oregano, sweet marjoram, rosemary, sage, savory, summer savory, and anise; garlic and ginger and medical herbs (periwinkle, turmeric, horehound, dandelion, cure-for-all, and wonder of the world).

In addition, there will be a nutritionist to talk about the various crops, and a demonstration by Chef Michael Moore. All are invited to attend.
