Matters relating to inter-island air and sea transport and trade were among the issues discussed yesterday when Norwegian Ambassador to Barbados, John Petter Opdahl, paid a visit on Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Charles Burnett.

During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Culloden Road, Mr. Burnett also took the opportunity to update the ambassador on issues such as access to concessional funding, the vulnerability of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the protection of human rights and the impact of climate change on SIDS.

With regard to the latter, Mr. Opdahl said disaster risk reduction was an area which was a priority for Norway as well as the development of strong women’s rights.

Both parties also discussed the regional integration movement and the progression of the Caribbean Single Market and Economy.

Also in attendance at the meeting was the Honorary Consul General to Norway, Robert Foster.
