Barbadians are expected to come out in their numbers to one of the biggest outdoor food and cultural festivals ever in the month of November – Nova-Culture Fest.

The three-day extravaganza is slated for November 21 to 23, at the Pelican Craft Centre, Princess Alice Highway, St. Michael.  It is being hosted for the second time by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC).

The festival, now in its second year, will bring together some of the best in local and regional culinary dishes and a showcase of what is being billed as the best in Bajan fashion and talent.

Key highlights on November 21 will include an all-day craft market and a Bajan décor showcase from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Pelican dooflicky from 10:00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.  Patrons will be treated to the sweet sounds of the Royal Barbados Police Band from 4:00 p.m.  They will also get the chance to show off their vocal capabilities in a karaoke competition from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The following day, Saturday, November 22, Richard Stoute, Tony Grazette, Desmond Weekes, Kellie Cadogan, and Colin Reid will perform during a one-hour Spouge Revival Concert slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.  From 8:00 p.m., former Calypso Monarch, Kid Site, Poonka and former Road March King, The Mighty Grynner, will be the headline acts during a vintage calypso concert.

On Sunday, November 23, Carolyn Leacock and Family, Shane Forrester and Sheldon Hope will render traditional and up-tempo gospel songs during a two-hour concert beginning at 3:00 p.m. and lasting until 5:00 p.m. Following this, there will be a fashion show showcasing the best in Barbadian designs. A concert featuring Tamara Marshall, Kelly Cadogan, Lion Soul and the band Masala beginning at 7:45 p.m. will bring the curtain down on NovaCulture Fest.

The children will not be left out of the festivities as they too will get the opportunity to interact with cartoon character Dora the Explorer and friends.  There will also be face painting, balloon sculpting and story-telling by Jason Cole.
