Staying safe when surfing the internet will be in focus during the month of November, as the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP) places emphasis on: Knowing the Signs: Together We can Prevent Cybercrime.

The NTFCP will celebrate the month with a series of activities, beginning on Wednesday, November 12. That???s when students of the West Terrace Primary School will attend a cybercrime presentation under the theme: Think, Click, Surf, at the school???s West Terrace, St. James location, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss, will be in attendance during this presentation.??Then on Thursday, November 13, secondary school students will have their turn for a workshop on Cybercrime and Bullying at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Attorney General, Diane Campbell, will deliver the feature address during the opening ceremony of this workshop, which will also feature presentations by a victim of cybercrime, representatives from the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), the Caribbean Security Centre (CSC), Supreme Counselling, and the Drug Education and Counselling Services.

Senior citizens will not be left out of the cyber world as they too will have a cybercrime awareness workshop on Friday, November 21, at the Accra Beach Resort and Spa, Rockley, Christ Church, beginning at 9:45 a.m.

During this workshop, they will be exposed to some of the dangers that exist in cyberspace such as Trojan viruses, cybercriminals, hackers, viruses, spyware and worms.

Director of the NTFCP, Cheryl Willoughby, will deliver remarks during the opening ceremony. There will also be presentations from members of the RBPF, the CSC and Knox Consultancy Services.

On Monday, November 24, Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite, will deliver the opening remarks during a human trafficking national meeting on: Counter Trafficking Strategies and Preventative Security Measures to Combat Human Trafficking in Barbados, at the Accra Beach Resort and Spa, Rockley, Christ Church, beginning at 8:30 a.m.??
