Chairman of the NPC, Sir Harcourt Lewis, planting one of the trees with class four student Marc Greaves-Knight

The National Petroleum Corporation’s (NPC) "good neighbour" policy has paid dividends for the Luther Thorne Memorial School.?? That corporation, which has embarked on a tree planting exercise, yesterday donated two of the tress to Luther Thorne School.

Chairman of the NPC, Sir Harcourt Lewis, said that the tree planting exercise was one of the activities on the cards for NPC’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year.??

"We have decided to engage in this exercise with an emphasis on a greener environment and our commitment to the wider community … The Luther Thorne Memorial School is the first of several schools which will benefit from this project.?? Our aim is to play our part in environmental awareness and hope that this will filter to the student’s realisation and practices in their homes, encouraging their parents to follow suit," he remarked.

Principal of the Luther Thorne Memorial School, Philip Roach, thanked the NPC for donating the trees. He said that the students and teachers of the school were committed to taking care of them.
