The importance of an effective statistical system in evidence-based decision making will come into sharp focus next week, when the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) holds a two-day National Statistical Service (NSS) Coordination workshop.

The event, slated for Tuesday, November 20, and Wednesday, November 21, will be held in Conference Room A, on the 3rd floor, Baobab Towers, Warrens, St. Michael.??The sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

On the first day of the workshop, participants will benefit from an overview of the project by career statistician and Director of the United Nations Statistical Division, Dr. Hermann Habermann, and International Statistician at Oxford Policy Management (OPM), Mary Strode.

The following day, Wednesday, November 21, there will be presentations on the practical aspects of the NSS coordination which will be led by former Deputy Director of the United Nations Statistical Division in New York, Willem De Vires.??

There will also be a discussion on the re-engineering of the BSS, by OPM’s Senior Consultant, Marian Guest.
