Winners in this year’s National Task Force on Crime Prevention’s Art (NTFCP) competition will receive their awards during a prize-giving ceremony at the Courtyard by Marriotts, Hastings, Christ Church, on Tuesday, December 11, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The competition, which began in June, 2007, targets primary and secondary school students between the ages of six and 17.

Its objective is to involve children in crime awareness and violence prevention activities at an early age, as well as provide them with another forum to express their feelings and artistic talents. The art competition is viewed as a tool to assist with reinforcing safety, and for persons in the field of crime prevention to communicate information to young people.

Prizes are awarded in the following age categories: six to eight; nine to 11; 12 to 14; and 15 to 17. Winners are usually awarded gift certificates valued between $150 and $600, in addition to a trophy. The winning entries will be displayed in the NTFCP’s annual calendar and quarterly newsletter.
