The Division of Economic Affairs is advising members of the public that they may now apply for a short-term OAS Professional Development Course.

Promoting Innovation: Licensing Academy in Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialisation will be taught at the University of California, United States, from June 22 to July 3, 2015.

The course???s objective is to educate participants on how to protect and manage intellectual property to support technology commercialisation in the public sector, or among small to medium-sized enterprises.

Applications must be forwarded to the Division of Economic Affairs, Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael, by Friday, April 24. Queries should be directed to Richelle Gaskin at 310-1323, or by email at richelle.gaskin@barbados.gov.bb.

The requirements for the short-term training include being a citizen or permanent resident of Barbados; and being a holder of a university degree in Law, International Affairs, Engineering, Life Sciences or Economics.??

Persons should also have at least two years of professional experience in public/private academia on tech transfer, intellectual property, agriculture, life sciences, international trade and innovation.

Persons who were awarded an OAS Professional Development Scholarship during the past 12 months or currently hold an OAS Scholarship for Academic Studies are not eligible to apply.
