Suitably qualified Barbadians are invited to apply for the Organization of American States’ (OAS) short-term professional development scholarships on the topic: Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers with Web 2.0 Tools and 21st Century Skills.

The course will be taught online during the period October 4 to November 29.

Eligible candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of an OAS member- state, must possess a bachelor’s degree in Education and have at least two years’ work experience as a teachers’ trainer and in charge of student teachers.

Additionally, candidates must have a high degree of discipline; responsibility; good time management; excellent verbal communication skills; be computer literate and have a good command of the English language.??

For those candidates whose first language is not English, they must submit an official transcript verifying completion of studies in an English-speaking university in the last five years, or a test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 570 or higher for the paper-based test; 230 for the computer-based test; or 89 for the internet-based test; ???????? International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5 and the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) with a minimum score of a grade B, or its equivalent.

Applicants who were awarded an OAS professional development scholarship in the last 12 months, or currently hold an OAS scholarship for academic studies, are not eligible to apply.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Economic Affairs Division, 3rd Floor East, Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael, no later than Friday, August 31.
