As an added feature of Agrofest, the National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise will stage an obstacle course, on Sunday, February 28, on the main pasture at Queen’s Park, between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

A key objective of the event is to show Barbadians of all ages fun and effective ways to get active and improve their physical condition. ??

The course has been designed by track and field coach at the National Sports Council, Jasper Blades, and Physical Fitness Professional and Personal Trainer, Kenneth Griffith, both members of the Task Force.

According to Mr. Griffith, there will be something for persons who have never exercised, as well as those who are looking for a new challenge. ??He explained: "The course is not going to be too difficult and will show participants how easy it is to get that heart rate up, have fun and get moving. They will be taken through an exercise routine with little or no equipment and anyone who wants to design their own programme afterwards can also get advice."

The obstacle course is a precursor to the Task Force’s Get Moving Barbados Exercise Event, scheduled for Ilaro Court on Saturday, March 13. It is in keeping with that body’s mandate to get more persons involved in exercise and physical activity as a means of curbing the high incidence of Chronic Non-communicable Diseases ??including diabetes, stroke and hypertension.

Members of the public are iadvised to come dressed in appropriate exercise gear for the event. lbayley@barbados.gov.bb?? /??jgill@barbados.gov.bb
