Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Week will be observed in Barbados from July 13 to 19.

As part of the activities to mark this week, the Labour Department will host a series of free seminars from July 15 to 16, at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa, Rockley, Christ Church, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Under the theme A Safe and Healthy Future of Work, the seminars will address the topics “Indoor Air Quality” and “Psychological First Aid”.

Persons interested in attending these seminars are required to pre-register with the Labour Department. This may be done by calling 535-1523 or 1524; faxing to 535-1571; or emailing labour@labour.gov.bb.

Prospective participants may also visit the department’s website at www.labour.gov.bb. The registration deadline is Friday, June 28.

The Labour Department, which falls under the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations, is also encouraging work places to organize their own OSH awareness events during the week, and to notify the department of these plans.
